Song Of Farewell When you go down to the ocean, Take some time to say goodbye It’s a long way to California, And the moon is rising high It’s time to leave the Marble City, Time to leave the ones you love May the angels all surround you May they guide you from above You’re stepping out from under a spell I’m wishing you well You’re stepping out from under a spell This is your song of farewell It’s a long and lonely journey From the hills down to the sea When you leave your home and loved ones, I hope you still remember me In the sunrise and the morning, When the birds are on the wing All the colours and the blue skies Hold the promise of the spring You’re stepping out from under a spell I’m wishing you well You’re stepping out from under a spell This is your song of farewell Every night we pray You’ll be home again Home again someday

Days Of Summer Sun (Grace) Days of summer sun are here again Warm and welcoming, a long lost friend Flowers are dancing with the leaves on the trees Down by the river in the evening breeze Morning music rolls the clouds away Grace is coming home she’s here to stay Don’t know why I never heard her before Waiting so patiently outside my door All she wanted is all I needed, I needed All she promised is true Now there’s nothing I can say or do Perfect love almost too good to be true Time and time again I misunderstood Lost along the way within the wild wood All she wanted is all I needed, I needed All she promised is true Overnight to my surprise, Underneath the starry skies Everything begins to change, Nothing here will stay the same It’s a mystery I confess Bringing peace to restlessness The one thing I will always do Is welcome you All she wanted is all I needed, I needed All she promised is true How I love You

Some Things Are Never As Perfect As You Want Them To Be There’s a star in the sky shining way overhead, I’m hoping This sweet love that we share will be always declared Unbroken Words we’ve spoken, and hearts that will always be true, So true There’s a fire in my heart, and it’s burning for you It’s the dream of a dreamer, she said Happy endings will some day be sad Then she says, as she tries to console me, she told me Some things are never as perfect as you want them to be You take your coat and your hat, and you walk down the hall, You’re leaving Every promise we made now so sadly betrayed, I’m grieving For what’s broken, and all that we cannot undo, It’s true, I can say it again, I’m lost without you They’re the words of a dreamer, she said Happy endings will some day be sad Then she says, as she tries to console me, she told me Some things are never as perfect as you want them to be But I know that there’s a better way, The sun is going to rise upon a brand new day Take a look around at everything you have When it’s gone nothing’s going to bring it back Yes my words are for dreamers I’m sure But happy endings are worth fighting for I can tell you the truth if you’ll hear me, believe me Some things will be just as perfect as you want them to be Some things could one day be perfect For you and for me

Long Shadows 03:36
Long Shadows Am I old, am I wise Am I blind to these lies How can a heart that’s made in heaven Ever turn so cold, ever turn so cold? There were long shadows hanging over me Over where I go, over where I’ve been Until the hand of mercy set me free There were long shadows hanging over me Something old, nothing new, You twisted life, you twisted truth That’s how a heart that’s made in heaven Can somehow turn so cold, Can somehow turn so cold There were long shadows hanging over me Over where I go, over where I’ve been Until the hand of mercy set me free There were long shadows hanging over me Oh hand of mercy, cover me, Oh hand of mercy, cover me There were long shadows hanging over me Over where I go, over where I’ve been Until the hand of mercy set me free There were long shadows hanging over me

Old Sea Road 02:55
Old Sea Road Saturday girls are always dancing, Saturday boys come rolling home The sound of the chapel bells are ringing, Calling the lost and faithful ones Was it a dream I sailed this ocean, Was it a dream that I’ve been called Back to Your loving arms of refuge Back to the Old Sea Road? Down where the harbour meets the sunset, Down where the piper plays his tune, They’re lighting a fire at Jacob’s boatyard, All of the ships are sailing soon Under the waking constellations, Under the guiding star of old, We will be back before the winter, Back to the Old Sea Road

Grand Central Station New York Grand Central Station New York, Train at the end of the line Waits for a signal to leave for the west coast The Star of The North will be leaving on time From the Grand Central Station New York Grand Central Station New York, Girl with the tears in her eyes Waits for her lover who sent her a letter Promised a wedding but never came back To the Grand Central Station New York Grand Central Station New York, Soldier came home from the war Nobody met him or called him a hero Now clutching a bottle he sleeps on the floor Of the Grand Central Station New York Does anybody ever want to know About the stories and the places Where all the lonely people go? Grand Central Station New York, Millions of people pass by Hurrying home for the first day of Christmas They walk past the girl who still waits for her lover Straight past the soldier still clutching his bottle And all of the stories that nobody knows Of the Grand Central Station New York Grand Central Station, New York

Everything Will Be Alright Peace to fill your heart And calm your worried mind Strength to face each waking hour Rest at evening time Love will find a way To lend a helping hand Love will bless your weary soul And will not fail a friend Something lost yet something found In ways that I don’t understand In this dark I see a light Everything will be alright Through these troubled days We trust, we win, we lose But giving up and giving in Is not the path we choose Love will keep you safe Until your journeys end Precious is the mystery Of travelling with a friend Something lost and something found In ways that I don’t understand In this dark I see a light Everything will be alright You’ll be alright Oh, trust The Light

The Best Is Still To Come I’ve got a way with words to make the best of everything, I count myself a lucky man, when I think what might have been And I know the best is still to come, Yes I know the best is still to come, still to come. Come rain or shine, I’ll be grateful Come joy or sorrow, I’ll still be thankful So when you’re feeling low, and it seems that life’s not good anymore Just take a second look, and count your blessings like you should Like I know I should And I’ll remember, the best is still to come Yes, I’ll remember, the best is still to come, still to come Come rain or shine, I’ll be grateful Come joy or sorrow, I’ll still be thankful

Way On Home 03:15
Way On Home In the shadow of the evening fire, At the closing of the day, Many tales are told from the travelling road, Of a world so far away Of a land beyond these Smoky Hills, Way across the fields of green There’s a shelter from the fire and rain And a place I long to be Way on home is where I’m bound, So let your love shine round Lead the way to higher ground, Let your love shine round Like a day before the darkest night, While my guiding star still shines I will lay my weary soul to rest, Long before the end of time And I know we’ll make the journey there, And I know just what we’ll find In the land where peaceful water flows I will ease my troubled mind Way on home is where I’m bound So let your love shine round Lead the way to higher ground Let your love shine round
10.
When Love Is Lord Of All The shadows fall across the earth And cloak the world with war The darkening clouds hang overhead As metal raindrops fall When every nation turns away From peaceful words of reason The gates of Eden close in shame ‘til Love is Lord of all Two worlds collide in fire and pain And run before the storm We trade our children’s precious lives To heed the siren call The bitter lies, and broken truths Still feed the flames of anger The fields will flower red with blood ‘til Love is Lord of all A change of heart, a change of mind Will bring a brighter dawn The olive branch and Light of Love Will earth and heaven restore The arms of Peace are open wide A gentle voice is calling I hear the whisper on the wind ‘Let Love be Lord of all’

about

Marble City Skyline.

Songs of life, love, joy and sorrow. The soundtrack of a sojourn and a journey.

Most of the music for this album was written and recorded in Knoxville Tennessee, with the addition of some favourites composed back home in England. The finished project was mixed in Maryville, within sight of the Great Smoky Mountains, and then mastered in Nashville, Tennessee..

Knoxville Tennessee has bee known as the Marble City for almost two centuries because of the history of marble mining and production. Strictly speaking, the marble is in fact a pink hued crystalline limestone.

Marble from Knoxville can be seen in the New York’s State Capitol, The Lincoln Memorial, The National Art Gallery of Washington and Grand Central Station New York. And very beautiful it is too.
